Financial Risk Officer

Job Summary

The Financial Risk officer plays a critical role in identifying, assessing, monitoring, and reporting financial risks faced by the bank, including credit risk, market risk, liquidity risk, and interest rate risk. The position supports the development and implementation of integrated risk management frameworks and contributes to maintaining the bank’s financial soundness, regulatory compliance, and overall risk culture.

Job Description

  • Identify and assess financial risks across the bank’s portfolios, including credit, market, liquidity, and interest rate risks.
  • Develop and maintain risk models, scenario analysis, and stress testing tools to measure exposure and inform decision-making.
  • Prepare regular risk reports for the board integrated risk and compliance committee, senior management and regulators (CBM).
  • Monitor compliance with internal risk limits and external regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with business units to assess new products, strategies, and business initiatives from a risk perspective.
  • Assist in the enhancement and implementation of the bank’s Risk Appetite Framework and ICAAP (Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process).
  • Contribute to risk policy development and review, ensuring alignment with best practices and CBM directives.
  • Support external/internal audits and regulatory examinations related to risk functions.
  • Participate in risk-related projects, such as system upgrades or risk data initiatives.
  • Stay informed of developments in the banking industry, financial markets, and regulatory landscape.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Accounting, Risk Management, or a related field. Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., FRM, CFA) is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in banking or financial services, preferably in risk management, credit analysis, or treasury.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Familiarity with Central Bank of Myanmar (CBM) regulations, Basel principles, and risk management frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools (experience with SQL, R, or Python is a plus).
  • Good communication and report writing skills in both English and Myanmar.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
